While the web series is a dynamic mix of travel, food and fun, Veggie Hunter also highlights DJ CherishtheLuv’s goal to bring awareness to her story as a cancer survivor and how plant-based diets can heal. According to a 2015 Loma Linda University study, funded by the National Cancer Institute, not only do vegans have lower rates of cancer than both meat-eaters and vegetarians, but those who ate a vegetarian diet had a 22% lower risk of colorectal cancer than those who weren’t vegetarians. Women placed on plant-based diets for just two weeks were found to suppress the growth of three different types of breast cancer and their bodies were able to significantly slow down and stop breast cancer cell growth.
